Anna University, established in 1978, is a state university located in Chennai. The university was formed by integrating four notable technical institutions of Chennai: Alagappa College of Technology-ACT (est. 1944), School of Architecture & Planning-SAP (est. 1957), College of Engineering-CEG (est. 1794), and Madras Institute of Technology-MIT (est. 1949). It is recognized by UGC and accredited by NAAC with an “A++” Grade.

Admissions for BE/ BTech, BPlan, and BE (Training/Integrated) are open now. The last date to apply for various UG and PG courses is between 9 June 2025 and 30 June 2025. Anna University accepts merit and entrance based admissions, for courses like BE/ BTech, BArch, ME/ MTech, MArch and MPlan at UG and PG levels The basic eligibility criteria for these course a minimum of 10+2 (PCM) or equivalent from a recognised board, for Domestic Candidates, NRIs, International Candidates and Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries.

UG Course Eligibility:
Students must have passed Class 12 (PCM) from a recognized board with a minimum of 45%.
Admission is based on marks scored in PCM, reduced to 200.
PG Course Eligibility
Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline with an aggregate percentile.
Admission to PG courses will be based on GATE, TANCET, and CEETA-PG scores.
PhD Course Eligibility
Master’s degree in the relevant field with 55% or 5.5 CGPA.
Interview and written examination conducted by the Centre for Entrance Examination.

Anna University grants Merit-cum-Means scholarship to students pursuing UG/ PG degree courses, based on academic excellence, categories, and to students who need financial assistance from the central government, state government, corporates, and other non-governing bodies. Some of the scholarships offered by Anna University are mentioned below:
SC ST: UG/PG students belonging to the SC, ST, and SCA communities who are pursuing their regular or self-supporting courses can benefit from this scholarship. To avail this scholarship, the family's annual income should not exceed INR 2,50,000 (not applicable to Other States’ SC/ST community).
Foundation for Excellence: UG students in their first year can avail this scholarship. Listed among the top 6000 in TNEA eligible ranking, students should have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 70% aggregate and family annual income not exceeding INR 3,00,000.
