AIIMS Guwahati Overview
AIIMS Guwahati was started in the year 2017 with a temporary campus location, inaugurated by the hands of our respected Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. Its main campus is in Changsari, Kamrup (Rural) District, with modern medical education facilities across its 189.2-acre campus.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Institute was established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) in May 2017, governed directly by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare - Government of India.
AIIMS Guwahati consists of a medical institute with an annual intake of 100 MBBS students and a nursing institute with an annual intake of 60 students. It offers graduate, postgraduate and doctorate course programs to the interested and eligible students.
On January 12, 2021, AIIMS Guwahati started its first academic session with a batch of only 50 students for the MBBS and 21 faculty members for four different departments and a temporary campus at Narakasur Hill-Top, Guwahati. In 2022, the Institute grew further – with the new batch of MBBS students joining, and the teaching faculty of paraclinical and clinical specialisations and super- specialisations.

AIIMS Guwahati Admission Eligibility Criteria 2025
AIIMS Guwahati offers various Undergraduate, Postgraduate and programs with specific eligibility criteria for 2025 session. These given dates below are tentative. Students need to visit the official exams update website for updates.
Students who want admissions in UG or PG course programs must atleast have completed 12th class with minimum 65% marks from recognized & reputed board, and Bachelor degree in relevant field with at least 50% marks from their accredited institute.
Students must complete their 12th class with minimum marks 65% from the recognized board & appear in the required entrance exams (NEET, CET, INI- CET PG, CBT etc.).
UG courses require Entrance Tests scores such as MBBS need NEET or CET exams with entrance exams being held in June 2026 (tentative).
To be eligible for PG course Admissions, students must have completed their bachelors degree in the relevant medical streams with at least 50% marks from a recognized university. Selection is based on INI- CET PG exam scores and 3 rounds of institute counselling.
PhD Course admissions are based on Computer Based Test (CBT) Entrance Exam scores which are likely to be held in July 2026 (tentative).
Course Programs require students to have passed minimum 10th class or 12th class from a reputed educational board (CBSE/ ICSE/ state education board) registered college to enroll in the course programs here at AIIMS Guwahati.
