LM Thapar School of Management Announces Integrated Program in Management (IPM) Aligned with NEP 2020
Derabassi, Chandigarh: LM Thapar School of Management (LMTSM), a constituent of Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, has started its new five-year Integrated Program in Management (IPM). The first batch of students, who will be part of the 2026-2031 cohort, recently joined the institute and took part in a four-day orientation program at the Derabassi campus.
For students stepping out of school with big ambitions, choosing the right path into the world of management can make all the difference. LM Thapar School of Management’s five-year Integrated Program in Management (IPM) is designed to give students that head start.
The program allows students to first build a strong foundation in areas like social sciences, humanities, quantitative skills and business fundamentals, and then move into more advanced management education.
The IPM program is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and inspired by IPM programs at leading IIMs. The course provides multidisciplinary learning, flexible academics, practical skill-building and comprehensive leadership development.
The IPM Program highlights the early integration of data analytics, AI tools, sustainability and experiential learning into the academic curriculum. It aims to give students a strong academic foundation while also providing industry exposure that will help them to prepare for the fast changing global business environment. At the same time, the program places strong emphasis on human values, corporate sustainability, ethical decision-making and value-based business practices.
IPM Induction Programme
The first batch of students began their journey from school to business school with a well-planned four-day induction programme. The programme was designed to help students settle into their new environment while supporting their academic, personal and professional growth.
The first day began with the inauguration and a campus tour, along with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Senior members of the institute addressed the students, followed by a special address from Chief Guest Mr Nishit Jain, Senior Special Advisor (Asia) at EFMD. Chief Guest Mr Nishit Jain urged the students to think beyond their individual careers and consider how they could contribute to India’s growth by 2047. He encouraged them to set ambitious goals, plan for the future and make the most of their journey while building their careers. He also reminded students to stay positive, enjoy the journey and keep smiling.
Day 2 gave the enrolled students a better understanding of the academic ecosystem through a series of workshops including “School to B-School: Learn, Adapt, Grow,” “Learning the LMTSM Way,” and “Leading with a Growth Mindset.” The day concluded with a guided city tour of Rock Garden, Chandigarh, giving students an opportunity to explore the city.
Day 3 focused on developing important skills and preparing students for their future careers. The sessions covered “Innovation & Entrepreneurship,” personal finance through “Investment Strategies for All Stages of Life,” international exchange opportunities and placement readiness. The day ended with a Cultural Eve that provided an opportunity for students to engage and connect.
Day 4 shifted the focus to ethics, values and community through sessions on “Human Values in the AI Era” and the interactive “Seniors Unplugged Ask & Learn” panel, before wrapping up with the closing ceremony.
Welcoming the new batch of students and their parents, Prof. D P Goyal, Director of LMTSM, spoke about the importance of creating a supportive and encouraging environment for students. He also highlighted how college transforms student life and offers them more freedom and new opportunities to explore. He also reminded them that this freedom comes with greater responsibility. Students are expected to take responsibility for their choices, be accountable for their actions and make the most of their college journey.
