GATE 2026 Registration Starts Today: Know How to Apply Here

The GATE 2026 registration is open from today onwards, i.e., on 28 August. It is a national-level entrance exam for master’s and doctoral programs. This year, IIT Guwahati is taking on the responsibility of conducting the national-level GATE exam. Eligible and interested candidates can apply for GATE 2026 registration till 28 September 2026 via its official website.

The candidates who are looking to pursue their postgraduate Master’s and direct Doctoral studies can apply for this exam. The GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) examination is conducted for the recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in certain international universities. 

GATE 2026 Registration: Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the GATE 2026 registration, applicants must check the eligibility criteria, and they should ensure that they are fulfilling all the eligibility criteria set by the GATE 2026 committee. The eligibility criteria for GATE 2026 registration are as follows:

• Candidates who have completed a degree program (recognised by the government) in any of the fields like Engineering, Technology, Commerce, Architecture, Science, Arts, Humanities are eligible to apply for GATE 2026.

• Candidates currently appearing in 3rd or higher years of an undergraduate program can also be eligible for the registration process.

Documents Required for GATE 2026 Registration

While filling out the GATE 2026 online registration form, candidates need the following required documents:

• A good quality passport-sized photograph

• Image of the candidate's signature

• Scanned copy of a valid ID (the same is presented at the exam center)

• Scanned copy of the cast certificate, if applicable

• Scanned copy of UDID/PwD certificate, if applicable

• Dyslexic certificate, if applicable

• Relevant Annexures, if applicable

GATE 2026 Registration Process

Candidates seeking postgraduate Master's and direct Doctoral degrees can apply for the GATE 2026. The step-by-step application process is given below:

Step 1: Candidates need to go at the official website at gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

Step 2: At home, look for the GATE 2026 registration link and click on it.

Step 3: Now, register for the GATE 2026 by providing the information correctly.

Step 4: Log in to the application page with your credentials ID and Password.

Step 5: Correctly fill out the application form, upload the photograph, and signature.

Step 6: Make the applicable fee payment to complete the registration process.

Once the registration process is complete, download and print the application for further reference. 

GATE 2026 Registration: Application Fees

The application fees for the GATE 2026 examination are INR 1000 for the female/SC/ST and PwD candidates, and for the extended period, it is INR 1500. For the other candidates, the GATE application fee is INR 2000 for regular and INR 2500 for an extended period. This examination fee is set for each paper.
