The Union Public Service Commission is conducting the Mains exam for civil service aspirants after the UPSC preliminary exams. The main exam will comprise nine descriptive papers, which will be conducted for 5 consecutive days. The examination will begin on 22nd August and end on 31st August 2025. The admit card is available for downloading on the official website and will be provided only to the students who have qualified in the preliminary examination. The exam paper comprises 8 parts, 6 being important, like Paper A of Indian Languages and Paper B of English, followed by essays and general studies I, II, III, IV, and V.

UPSC CSE Mains Exam 2025 Examination Schedule

The examination will be scheduled for 5 days and in 2 shifts: the morning shift from 9 am to 12 pm and afternoon shift from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Each exam will be 3 hrs, giving students ample time to write their examination. Aspirants are advised to carefully go through the examination schedule and reach 1 hr prior for the examination. Rest follow the instructions provided on the admit card.

Important Tips For The Examination Day

  • The students are advised to carry the physical copy of their UPSC Mains admit card along with valid proof of identity.

  • Carry a clear personal water bottle and do not carry any electronic devices.

  • You can bring your medicines along with you if you are a diabetic or heart patient.

  • Don’t wear full sleeves

  • Arrive at least 1 hr prior to the examination, as the verification process might take time and to avoid last-minute stress.

  • Maintain silence and follow the instructions of the investigator and invigilator.

  • Don’t carry any prohibited items with you.

  • Cross-verify the details mentioned on your answer booklet, like your roll number and name.

  • Bring all the necessary stationery items and carry an extra pen.
