The IIM Ranchi Admission Process is very straightforward and can be done very easily. However, each course will have its own admission process. Some of the courses require candidates to appear for the entrance exams, while some require work experience, and some require both. For example, IIM Ranchi courses such as the IPM require students to appear for the IPMAT entrance exam, which is conducted by IIM Indore.
However, the IIM Ranchi Admission process for courses such as MBA, MBA-HR, MBA-BA, and Executive MBA requires candidates to appear for the CAT entrance exam and then participate in the Common Admission Portal (CAP). Whereas, for the IIM Ranchi Admissions for the PhD programme, candidates should have a Master’s degree or PGDM and its equivalent in any stream in first class, B.Tech/4 years degree with 6.5 CGPA, or any professional qualification courses, such as CA/ ICWA/CS with a B.Com and a minimum of 55% of marks.
Students who take part in the CAT exam are assessed on skills such as Verbal & Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. This year, the Common Admission Test (CAT) will take place on 30th November 2025. Along with this, the IIM Ranchi accepts IPMAT exam scores. This exam is conducted by IIM Indore, and it will happen in May 2026, tentatively.
Most of the programmes offered by IIM Ranchi are either full-time or part-time courses. Students get to learn through different teaching methods such as lectures, case studies, industry visits, classroom discussions, experiential lessons, simulations, group projects, internships, and more.

The Indian Institute of Management offers the Integrated Programme in Management (IPM), which is a full-time 5-year integrated postgraduate programme. Students will get the MBA degree once they have completed the 5-year programme. If a student chooses to exit after three years, they will be awarded the BBA degree if they have cleared all the requirements.
Since the programme is cross-disciplinary, it helps students build a base in all the important areas of the business industry. Furthermore, the students must complete a SIIP (Social Internship Immersion Programme)after the fifth term. The institute also allows opportunities for a student exchange programme for one term.

Students who want to take part in the IIM Ranchi Admission process must check if they fulfill the eligibility criteria for this course. If they meet the required eligibility criteria, they must appear for the IPMAT exam.
Shortlisted for the Personal
Once the candidate qualifies for the exam, they will be shortlisted for the Indian Institute of Management Ranchi admission interview process. Additionally, the PI will be done in offline mode, and candidates will be notified about their centres.
Final List Creation
The final list of students who are getting admitted to the course is created based on the Admission Test Score/Entrance Exam Score, PI Score, and Academic Profile Score based on their class 10th and 12th. IIM Ranchi admission status will be later uploaded on the official website or informed to the students via email.
Gender Diversity
5 marks will be added to female and transgender candidates only. These points will be added to the candidate’s score and not to the total points.
IM Ranchi’s MBA program is the flagship programme since the beginning of this institute. Currently, the institute admits over 250 students to the MBA course through the Common Admission Test (CAT), followed by personal interviews. The PI process will be common for all the IIMs that participate in the Common Admission Process (CAP).

The Executive Programme in Management offered by IIM Ranchi is a two-year programme. It is designed for graduates of any discipline with a minimum of three years of experience. The course works in hybrid mode, blending online and residential modules. All the online modules are organised on weekends only.
Its curriculum is divided into two years, with three terms in the first year, and candidates can choose electives, such as Operations Management, Economics, Marketing Management, Strategic Management, OB & HR, Accounting & Finance, and Information Systems & Business Analytics.

The doctoral programme in IIM Ranchi is an academic programme that requires a minimum of four years to complete. Its first year coursework focuses on a broad understanding of management. In the second year, students develop a deeper understanding to conduct research in their chosen field of specialisation. Furthermore, the IIM Ranchi Fees for this programme are INR 12,50,000.

They should have a Master’s degree/Post Graduate Diploma or its equivalent in any discipline with a first class.
Candidates with a B.Tech/4 years degree with 6.5 CGPA or equivalent can also apply.
Additionally, candidates applying for any professional qualification, such as CA/ICWA/CS, with a B.Com/Degree with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Along with this, the candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent in all their public examinations, starting with class 10th.
If a candidate has work experience in their relevant industry or academics, they will be given credit in the selection process.
Age Limit: A candidate must not be more than 55 years of age as on 30th June 2025.

Candidates must appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) held by IIMs.
Students who have qualified in GATE, GRE, GMAT, NET/NET-JRF (UGC/ CSIR) examinations can also apply in the relevant area of specialisation.
Entrance exam scores of any exams, including CAT, taken during the last two years, will be taken into consideration for PhD admission.
Furthermore, candidates who have a one/to two-year full-time PGDM degree or PGDM degree in any specialised area of management from any IIMs with a minimum of CGPA 6.5 can apply directly for the PhD programme.
Once candidates are shortlisted based on their academic record and performance, they will be called for a seminar and a personal interview.
The Executive PhD programme at IIM Ranchi is designed for senior executives who want to enhance their research skills, while continuing their professional careers. It is a three-year doctoral-level programme , which provides professionals to study at IIM Ranchi and at one of the leading international management universities.

Candidates who are applying for this programme must have 5 years of work experience after graduation. Along with this, candidates must fulfill any one of the following academic qualifications to become a part of the IIM Ranchi Admissions process.
Academic Qualification (Any one of the following)
Candidates who are CA/ICWA/CS and have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks can also apply for this programme.
Those who have a B.Tech/B.E./B.Pharm or any other four-year degree with at least 65% marks or equivalent CGPA are eligible for this course.
If a candidate has graduated through MBBS, B.Arch, or any other five-year Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks can also apply for this course.
Candidates with any Master’s degree, such as M.Tech/ MBA/ M.Com, with a minimum of 55% marks can get admission into this course.
Candidates who have completed a two-year postgraduate diploma in a related stream, along with a three-year Bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks from a University that has been recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Working Professionals who have an equivalent qualification from a foreign institution, which is accredited by a legally recognised university.

The next step in the IIM Ranchi Admissions is for candidates to be shortlisted and called or notified to appear for a Personal Interview, which will take place in the first week of November, tentatively.
