Gulshan Kumar Film and Television Institute of India (GKFTII) has not set an exact cut-off for admissions. Instead, it uses a merit-based process of selection which evaluates students based on their academic performance and personal interviews. For some courses, portfolio evaluation is also done. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and short-term classes that cover topics such as Film & Television, Journalism, Media, Fashion, and Design.

For undergraduate programs, they provide courses such as BSc in Cinema, BJMC, BSc, and BDes in Fashion Design. Candidates must be able to pass 10+2 (HSC) from a recognised board. Admissions are based on merit and some programs require auditions or interviews.

For postgraduate programs, such as MSc in Cinema or MJMC, MSc in Fashion Design as well as PG Diplomas, candidates need to have a Bachelor's degree in the related area. The selection process is based on transcripts of academic records as well as personal interviews.

For short-term and diploma-level classes in fields such as Digital Cinematography, Acting, Video Editing, Anchoring, and Fashion Design, the eligibility requirements vary. The majority of programs require Class 12 as the basic qualification. The selection process is based on merit or through an interview round.

GKFTII doesn't have an entrance exam, however, for courses that are based on performances, students might be required to present an audition tape or portfolio.
