The Kerala High Court cancelled a last-minute change made by the state government to the KEAM 2025 entrance exam rules on Wednesday. The High Court said the changes were illegal, unfair, and not justified. A group of CBSE students who appeared for the KEAM exam challenged this change made by the state government.
Students filed a petition saying the rule was changed on 1st July, just one hour before the rank list was declared. The changes affected how final scores were calculated. After the court’s order, the state government quickly filed an appeal with a division bench (panel of two judges). It is expected to be heard on Thursday.
Kerala High Court Justice D K Singh said that changing the rules in the prospectus just one hour before releasing the rank list is completely illegal, unfair and wrong. The Kerala High Court ordered that the rank list should be prepared again by using the original rules which are mentioned in the prospectus declared on 19th February, 2025.
Kerala High Court Cancelled the Last - Minute Changes
Justice D K Singh cancelled the last-minute change and instructed the commissioner for the Entrance Exam to release a new rank list of the KEAM exam based on the original prospectus. The Kerala High Court also pointed out that it seems someone saw the results beforehand and noticed that students from the Kerala stream did not perform well. To favor that group of students, the rules were changed at the last moment, which the High Court said was a dishonest and unfair decision. The High Court made it clear that such actions are completely unfair, wrong and cannot be allowed under any circumstances.
