The MP High Court has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to hold a re-examination for the students of NEET UG 2025 who faced problems during the examination because of power cuts at the centers in Indore and Ujjain. This decision was made after candidates said their exam was affected by a blackout caused by a storm, which made it hard for them to take the test properly.

The MP High Court has issued directions regarding the NEET UG 2025 re-examination. Only those candidates who filed petitions before the 3rd of June, the date when the answer key was declared, will be allowed to take the retest. The results of this re-examination will be used for the counseling and seat allotment process. As a result, the MCC Medical Counselling Committee, which has planned to start counselling from 1st July, may now face problems since the process will depend on the new examination results.

Justice Subodh Abhyankar emphasized that the affected candidates were not at fault and therefore deserve another chance. To feel the problem of students, the court switched off all the lights of the courtroom during the hearing to experience the blackout situations for 13 minutes that are faced by candidates during the examination. This helped the court to better understand the situation of students.

Effect on NEET UG 2025 Counseling and Admission Process

  • Approximately 13 lakh students have qualified for BDS, MBBS and other medical programs this year.

  • There are only 1,18, 190 MBBS seats available in 780 medical universities, which makes competition tough.

  • Because of the upcoming re-examination of NEET UG 2025, the counseling process will be delayed and also affect the seat allotment process.

  • The National Testing Agency (NTA) needs to hold the re-examination quickly and declare the result without any delay.

  • Stay updated on re-examination dates and revised counseling timelines as they are announced for NEET UG 2025.
