The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the re-registration deadline for the July 2025 academic session to 15 July 2025. It means students now have additional time to enroll in both Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online programmes. The re-registration process started on 15 May 2025 and is mandatory for all continuing students to maintain their academic progress.
Who Needs to Re-Register?
Re-registration is compulsory for all current IGNOU students who want to continue their studies, regardless of whether they appeared for the previous term-end exams or submitted assignments. This process is different from new admissions, which apply to students enrolling in IGNOU programs for the first time. Only students who complete the re-registration process will be eligible to attend classes and appear for the Term-End Examination (TEE) for the July 2025 session.
How to Re-Register for IGNOU?
Students must complete the re-registration process online through the official portal at ignou.samarth.edu.in/index.php/site/login. Detailed steps for the IGNOU Re-registration process are given below:
Step 1: Visit the IGNOU official website.
Step 2: If you are a returning user, log in using your enrollment number and password. Otherwise, click on ‘New Registration’ and follow the instructions to create your account using your registered email and mobile number.
Step 3: After logging in, go to the ‘Re-Registration’ section under the “Register Online” menu on the dashboard.
Step 4: Select Your Programme and Courses
Choose the programme you are currently enrolled in.
Carefully select the subjects or courses for the next semester or academic year as per your programme guide.
Step 5: Enter all necessary personal, academic, and contact information as prompted in the form.
Step 6: Read the declaration statement and check the box to confirm your acceptance of the terms and conditions.
Step 7: Click on ‘Accept and Proceed Payment’.
Step 8: Pay the re-registration fee using the available online payment options: debit/credit card, net banking, or UPI.
Step 9: After successful payment, click on the ‘Submit’ button to finalize your re-registration.
Step 10: Next, save the final page and payment receipt for future reference. You will also receive an instant confirmation via email and SMS, though it may take up to 30 days for your status to be updated in the system.
Step 11: Check Re-Registration Status by logging back into the portal and checking your re-registration status using your enrollment number and course code.
