GD Goenka Organised Special Convocation for the International Students, Celebrating Academic Achievement

The GD Goenka University recently concluded a special convocation ceremony to honour its international graduating students of the 2026 academic session. The convocation ceremony conducted by GD Goenka is for celebrating the academic achievements and excellence of graduates from different countries who completed their higher education at the university. This International Convocation ceremony highlighted the university's commitment to providing quality education and nurturing leaders who can achieve their career goals across the globe.

In this Special Convocation Ceremony, a total of 89 students from 19 countries received their degrees. These students completed undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programmes across different schools of the university.  This event reflected the university's growing international presence and its efforts to create a learning environment where students from different cultures and backgrounds can study together without any problem. Students from countries across Asia, Africa, and other regions were part of this graduating batch

This special convocation, conducted for the “International Graduating Class of 2026,” has also played a special role in bringing students, faculty members, diplomats, and distinguished guests from all over the world together. The ceremony recognised the hard work, dedication, and success of international students who pursued their academic journey at GD Goenka University. The university congratulated all the graduates for their achievements and wished them success in their future careers.

Special Awards to Students who Performed well in their Academics

Apart from awarding a degree, the officials of GD Goenka University have also awarded some special awards to the students who performed exceptionally well in their academics. Out of 89 students, five students received the Gopi Ram Goenka Medals for their outstanding performance, which included two Gold Medals and three Silver Medals. 

The main aim of the University in providing the special awards along with the degrees is to encourage students to perform well in their further studies and inspire others to perform their best. The awards were presented to students who demonstrated excellence throughout their academic journey.

Dignitaries attended the convocation ceremony

Several distinguished guests from India and abroad have attended, congratulated and motivated the graduates in this special convocation ceremony of GD Goenka University. The Chief Guest for the event was Lt Col Sanjeev Kumar, Officer on Special Duty (Central & West Africa Division), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

Apart from this, many ambassadors, high commissioners, diplomats, and representatives of different countries also attended the convocation ceremony. Most of the dignitaries or VIPs personally handed over degrees to students from their respective nations, making the event even more memorable for the graduates and their families.

Their presence reflected the strong educational ties between India and various countries, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in higher education.

GD Goenka University Highlights the Importance of Global Education 

During the convocation ceremony for the International Students, the Pro-Chancellor Nipun Goenka also encouraged to use their knowledge and skills to create a positive impact in society and wished them success in their professional and personal lives the students for their hard work. He congratulated all the graduating students and appreciated their dedication to academics.

He said that education has the power to connect people beyond geographical boundaries and cultures. According to him, universities play an important role in preparing students not only for successful careers but also for becoming responsible global citizens.

Along with that, The Vice-Chancellor of GD Goenka University, Prof. (Dr.) Dinesh Shenoy also addressed and congratulated the graduating students during the convocation. He encouraged students that learning does not stop even after receiving a degree, and it is essential in today's rapidly changing world.

He also highlighted the university's focus on innovation, research, industry-oriented education, and international exposure, which helps students prepare for global career opportunities.

Students from different Academic Schools Received their Degrees 

Students from various schools of the University have completed their studies. Among the 89 graduates, 79 students completed undergraduate programmes, while 10 students earned postgraduate degrees. The School of Healthcare and Allied Sciences has recorded a large number of graduates, followed by the School of Engineering and Sciences. The Remaining graduates have completed their higher education from other schools like Schools of Management, Agricultural Sciences, Hospitality and Tourism, Law, and Liberal Arts. This diverse representation reflects the wide range of academic programmes available for international students at GD Goenka University.
